What is BOTOX?
You have probably heard of BOTOX, but many people have no idea what it does or how it can improve your appearance. BOTOX is one of the most common facial treatments on the market today and is popular because of its effectiveness, low instances of side effects, and because it is a temporary treatment that lasts around 3-6 months, making it reversible with time.
BOTOX Cosmetic is an injectable facial treatment that helps to control fine to moderate wrinkles. After we inject BOTOX into your facial muscles, they will begin to relax over the next two weeks. The most common area for treatment are the vertical lines between your eyebrows. The wrinkles on the treated areas will gradually reduce or diminish entirely over the next few months. Regular treatments will keep your wrinkles from returning.
Patients often have rave reviews because BOTOX reduces their facial tension. In fact, dentists recently discovered that BOTOX helps to reduce tension headaches and jaw pain associated with bruxism (teeth grinding) because it relaxes muscles, reducing tension and stress.
Botox is not a filler and will not create a puffy appearance. It is most commonly used to treat your forehead, the corners of your eyes (crow’s feet), and smile lines. Botox does not “freeze” your face, but relaxes it. Your face will still be expressive.
